Music education helps a child grow mentally and prepares them for a brighter future. During the summer, KCA's Fine Arts Institute provides high quality musical education for your child.

We offer a variety of creative arts:

Brass/Woodwind

Strings

Instructor: Mr. Rasa

Strings

Grades K – 12

Students have a selection of three instruments: violin, viola and cello. String performance, playing position and bow position are some of the skills emphasized. Students will play scales and short orchestral pieces in preparation for performances.

String Beans

Ages 3 – 4 years

This music exploration class teaches basic music concepts using the violin.  Students begin to learn the basics of holding the instrument, string plucking, and finding notes on the fingerboard.
Conservatory Violin
Students who are accepted into the Conservatory have the opportunity to take their violin instruction to the next level. Students attend classes twice a week, receive practice coaching and extra performance opportunities.

Piano

Instructors: Ms. Ferraro, Mr. Byrom, Mrs. Hinton

Piano

Grades K – 12

Piano instruction is a primary class and is a great way to explore music. Small group classes are available for beginners and advanced students. Essential note reading, beginner piano technique and more will be the focus of the piano classes.
Piano Party

Ages 3 – 4 years

This music exploration class teaches basic music concepts using the piano. Students learn basic information about piano while applying the fundamental concepts of music (e.g., loud/soft, fast/slow, up/down) to their piano learning.
Conservatory Piano
Students who have been accepted into the Conservatory have the opportunity to take their piano instruction to the next level. Students attend classes twice a week, receive practice coaching and more performance opportunities.

Percussion

Instructor: Mr. Byrom

Percussion

Grades K – 12

Percussion offers small group classes designed to promote and develop musical performance on various percussion instruments. Students will study and apply performance concepts to several different styles of music and learn how to read and understand percussion music sheets.
Baby Beats

Ages 3 – 4 years

This music exploration class designed to teach basic rhythm concepts using percussion instruments. Students learn how to hold drum sticks and play a steady beat and rhythmic patterns.

Dance

Instructors: Mrs. Gibbs

Dance

Grades K – 12

We offer dance instruction in ballet, jazz, African and color guard. During these classes, students will understand the fundamentals of movement and the principles of performance and rhythm. Our instructors will introduce every primary genre of music, and students will become proficient in technique and dance vocabulary.
Tiny Tutus

Ages 3 – 4 years

A dance exploration class designed to teach basic dance skills and concepts. Dancers will understand the artistic and technical elements of physical movement that lead to performance artistry and basic knowledge of dance and dance vocabulary. Dancers will develop an understanding of the principles of body movement to prepare them for more advanced dance techniques in the future. Dancers will learn dance history with each genre approached. Each genre the class studies has a rich history and requires a different type of technique. As we grow through each genre this school year, we will discuss not just the method involved but the meaning and origin as well. Dancers will learn dance routines from ballet and tap genres.

Brass/Woodwind

Instructor: Mr. Rasa

Grades K - 12

Students have a selection of five instruments: flute, trumpet, trombone, saxophone or clarinet. This group class is designed to give students a solid technical foundation and understanding of the fundamentals of music. Students will practice scales and melodies as they prepare for recitals.

Voice

Instructor: Mrs. Hinton

Grades K - 12

Voice instruction allows students to develop their natural God-given instrument. In this class, students explore their vocal abilities while applying vocal techniques.

KCA Closed November 28 & 29 for Thanksgiving
All KCA campuses will be closed Thursday, November 28, and Friday, November 29, in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. Regular activities will resume on Monday, December 2, 2024.
